Syllable awareness: the app says the word and the child builds it by tapping the syllables in the right order.
In Pedacitos a picture of an object appears, the app says its name, and the child builds the word by tapping — on a six-slot grid — the syllables that spell it, in order: TIJOLO becomes TI, then JO, then LO, among distractors like MA, RA, and DI. Each tap fills the next slot, and tapping a filled slot returns the syllable; the app only checks once the word is complete. Then comes the writing step, with the letters scrambled. There are 30 words, progressing from two to four syllables, and the stars earned dress up Pedacito, the mascot. Mistakes carry no punishment: they never zero out stars, never reveal the answer, and never skip the word.
